Curtin's Role in InterFace

Work Package 2

Activities of WP2 are the definition of tools and system specifications. This work will lead to the first deliverable produced by the project and will constitute the basic documentation for all the following development activities. These specifications will trace guidelines for the integration of tools into the common software platform and for the correct management of user interactions. These specifications must define the system functionality that is necessary for the implementation of the case study application related to the "virtual speaker".

Specifications will be studied, discussed and finalized to define the functionality of the system. Server-client communication protocols will be defined as well as the format and syntax of data exchange. Time criticality and media synchronization issues will be discussed and specified. Finally, tool in/out interfaces will be specified to define formats for audio/video input capturing and for output parameter provision. All the aspects concerned with man-machine interaction will be evaluated, as well as time tagging and synchronization issues.

Work Package 5

First objective of this workpackage is the integration of the developed tools through the following steps in order to:
  • ensure, during the whole length of the project, that the in/out interface specification for each individual module, which will be set by WP2, is sustained
  • implement the man-machine dialog manager which will interconnect the analysis with the synthesis stage
  • provide a software platform, based on the analysis of the system to be developed, where all the system modules will be continuously integrated
  • provide the final working system

Second objective of this activity is the promotion and dissemination of InterFace achievements. This will be accomplished through the participation to public events and exhibitions, through the submission of papers and documents to journals, magazines and any editorial initiative promoted at various levels by the Program, Commission, project cluster or cross-programme actions.
